Rebuilding Communities with Hope

¡Apúntate!

Re-ACE (Rebuilding Communities with Hope) is a community outreach program of the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico. For the past 14 years, our projects have managed to impact the lives of hundreds of families in need.

We offer different services for our communities. In emergency situations, we provide emergency storage facilities that distribute humanitarian aid to families affected by natural and social disasters. On occasion, we distribute food vouchers to families going through economic hardships. Our highly regarded project of 7 tutoring centers around the island of Puerto Rico, focus on improving academic backwardness for low-income children

  • A.U.LA. /Bayamón
  • Casa de Tony / Ca muy
  • A.T.R.EV.E.T.E. /Arecibo

In Puerto Rico, the need in our communities is pressing and economic resources are scarce. 45% of the population are classified as living below the established "poverty line". Our objective is to help those families in need and promote a better quality of life in their communities.

¿What is Apúntate?

“Apúntate” is a fundraising initiative that supports our Tutoring Centers and help us build a better future for our childhood.

Due to the severe economic issues and struggles of Puerto Rico the current state of the public school system in the island is dire.

  • 70% of the students enrolled in public schools are classified as having “economic disadvantages”.
  • More than half of the population under the age of 18 live below the poverty line.
  • 4 out of 10 students enrolled in primary school dropout.
  • It is estimated that by the year 2030 over 150,000 students will drop out of school.
  • 70% of inmates in Puerto Rico are school dropouts.

With our mentoring and tutoring, the students in our program accomplish academic excellence and become one less number in dropout statistics giving them the opportunity to be instruments of change in our society.
